I have to admit when Mia told me she wanted just a couple posed shots, I was surprised. I do tell people that I see myself as a documentary photographer, which I am, and we don’t require that anyone pose unless they want to. But it really only happens about once a year where I only take a couple portraits, so I didn’t expect it. I love shooting portraits, but I must say I felt that not shooting them didn’t take away from their pictures at all. They were so focused on just having their wedding and enjoying it, that it made for a day that was fun, fluid, stylish, and personal, and it gave me more than enough material for great pictures! They even brought in a break dance crew to perform before their first dance – how cool is that?
The wedding took place at Studio 450 with event design and planning by Christie at CLM Weddings. She and her crew did a fantastic job keeping things organized and on track without making their presence felt. It also happened that they were being taped for Amazing Cakes from WeTV, featuring a cake by Cake Alchemy, and it just added to the mix!
